Maddie Sidebottom, who runs Wynyard Re:Loved Boutique, has been crowned North East Independent Business of the Year.
She was handed her gong at the FB Fashion Ball Business Hero Awards – dubbed the “Northern Met Gala” – held at Newcastle’s Grand Hotel Gosforth Park.
Maddie said: “This award means so much because it reflects the incredible community that has grown around Wynyard Re:Loved over the last four years. To celebrate our fourth birthday by winning Independent Business of the Year was really special.”
She went on: “Having so many of my clients there on the night, all dressed in Re:Loved and cheering the business on, made it even more emotional. This award belongs to every woman who has supported, trusted and championed the business from the very beginning.”
Maddie was also shortlisted for two other awards – North East Inspirational Businesswoman and the North East Community Impact and Diversity Award.
A vocal critic of the fast fashion industry, Maddie has built the business on a ‘Re:Love, Re:Use, Re:Cycle’ ethos and has created a community supporting women through many ups and downs.
Maddie, married to former England international cricketer Ryan Sidebottom, added: “It’s never just been about selling clothes; it’s about confidence. Many of my clients are navigating menopause, illness or neurodiversity and find traditional shopping environments overwhelming. The one-to-one appointment model allows me to focus entirely on the individual and offer a genuine, honest styling service.”
