Stranton Primary School held its sixth annual Careers’ Day – welcoming town companies and individuals who volunteered their time to inspire children from nursery through to Year 6.
Teacher Scott Smith said the pupils had the opportunity to explore more than 15 different career pathways at the Southburn Terrace school.
He said: “The children have not stopped talking about the experience! All the planning and organisation is worthwhile when you see the excitement and joy on their faces throughout the day.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our volunteers for helping to broaden our children’s horizons and inspire their futures.”
Highlights this year included free haircuts from Marmaris owner Bayram, the chance to use a fire hose and explore a fire engine, getting to touch a real lobster, and an end-of-day concert from regular volunteers, popular Hartlepool music duo, Pek and Wanley.
Scott added: “Any local businesses or individuals who would like to support next year’s event are always welcome as we continue to expand the range of careers we offer.”
Also attending on the day were Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire Brigade, and a range of departments from Hartlepool FE College, including beauty, public services, dance, policing, travel and tourism, and outdoor sports.
