HARTLEPOOL lifeboat crews were quick to help out when they came across a yacht which had run aground on Longscar Rocks.
The Hartlepool RNLI inshore lifeboat “Solihull” and all-weather lifeboat “John Sharp” were on a Sunday training exercise when they went to the aid of the 32ft yacht, with three people on board.
An RNLI spokesperson said: ”The inshore lifeboat volunteer crew assisted by deploying the yacht’s anchor into deeper water. After ensuring that the boat and its crew were safe, both lifeboats returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station to be refuelled and made ready for service by 11.45am.”
The yacht crew had to wait until later in the afternoon for the tide to refloat their vessel before continuing their journey south.
