HYACINTHS (Hyacinthus orientalis) are easy-to-grow spring bulbs and have the added bonus of a lovely fragrance
They can flower in an abundance of colours, ranging from traditional purple and pink to white, and even mauve and can be forced to grow for indoor Christmas displays.
To grow hyacinths in pots:
– Choose a medium-sized container or a wide bowl or “squat pot” shape.
– Use wide, shallow pots of terracotta or plastic.
– Fill the containers with good-quality dry soil or premium-quality bulb potting mix.
– Position bulbs close together, but not directly touching.
– Add bulb mix so they are covered by at least their own depth.
