The awards, sponsored by Ecclesiastical Insurance, were from the Durham Diocesan Advisory Committee and recognised good practice in church maintenance and improvements across the Diocese of Durham.
Revd John Bell, Priest in Charge at Stranton, said “It was wonderful to receive this award on behalf of the parishioners, who, over many centuries, have given their time, talents and finance to promote God’s presence here in Hartlepool”.
The award was a fitting finale to a year which celebrated 900 years of Stranton Church. Other celebrations included a “Weddings Through The Ages” exhibition, a tower abseil and a “Beer and Hymns” evening. The final event will be a visit from the Bishop of Durham on All Saints Day, Sunday 1st November.
