Rovers have made a perfect start to their Counties Two South programme with their 84-10 romp at Middlesbrough Seconds on Saturday making it four impressive wins from four.
Lightning-quick backs James Keers and Ellis Trimble rattled off a hat-trick each as the Whites ran in 14 tries at Acklam Park, with Keers converting seven to end with 29 points.
There were serious doubts surrounding this division given it contains seven reserve sides and just five first XVs. Rovers have taken a professional approach and, thus far, it is paying dividends as they sit second to Darlington Mowden Park Seconds in the table.
“It’s been a very strong start,” Smith told Life. “We didn’t know what the standard would be like with second teams in the league.
“Early indications are that Mowden are going to be strong and pushing the top end of the table come the end of season.
“Some second teams seem to be struggling with the level they have been placed.
“All we need to focus on is keeping the momentum and building on the strong numbers at training and good availability for match days to ensure we have two strong teams each week.
“If we do that, hopefully the results will take care of themselves.”
Rovers produced a devastating attacking display, from start to finish, to secure their third emphatic victory over second-team opposition.
The side, coached by John Padgett and Thomas King, were 10-0 up inside six minutes through Jack Gunn and Lee Clayton.
Cam Lithgo, Keers, and Josh Wilson also crossed the line in the first period, with Boro scoring two of their own as Rovers led 31-10.
Rovers were irresistible in the second half with Trimble leading the way with his hat-trick, while Keers dotted down twice to complete his treble with Alex Rochester scoring a brace.
Lithgo added his second while there was a try for winger Ryan Harrison. Rovers are in derby action on Saturday when they visit Peterlee Seconds, who are placed ninth (kick-off 3pm).
