Robert and Mavis Harper celebrate diamond wedding anniversary

BY JOHN RIDDLE

When Mavis and Robert Harper married in Christ Church in 1960 the sun appropriately shone like a diamond.
On 26th March the couple celebrates their Diamond Wedding at their home of more than 50 years in Chester Road.
Mavis and Robert have 3 children, twin boys Andrew and Colin and a daughter Alison.

Colin lives in Derbyshire and Alison who lives in Wiltshire, both will be in Hartlepool for the event. Andrew lives in Edmonton,  the capital of Alberta, which sits on the North Saskatchewan River (try saying that after a few sherries).

If Andrew flies across the Atlantic it would be something of a surprise visit. Mavis is a member of the congregation at St.James Church, Owton Manor and
attends various groups at Summerhill and the Mill House Leisure Centre.
Robert (or Bob as he is now to his mates) is well-known in Richardson Westgarth’s Club and has until last year played lawn green bowls for teams both indoor and outdoor.
Bob did National Service in the RAF and worked in later life as a driver with Hartlepool Transport.

On behalf of everyone at Hartlepool Life we would like to send our “Diamond” greetings to you both.
