From installing the first three defibrillators, the aim was always to ensure any defibrillator we installed would be maintained and cared for within the community.
In addition, we wanted to raise awareness of CPR and Defibrillators by holding none certified awareness sessions for anyone who would like to understand more. Our sessions are very informal and relaxed with the aim of giving people the confidence to begin CPR in an emergency – everything is at your pace and with what you are comfortable with.
– Have the defibrillators we have placed prove to be of benefit within the community?
We think the deployment figures speak for themselves. We don’t want anyone to have to need one of these devices but hope they give comfort knowing they are available should the need arise.
To date there have been:
– 1,336 Deployments by the Ambulance Service in the last five years
– We can have as many as 30 plus deployments in just one month
Our work continues to ensure we reach all areas of our town. There is still work to do and, in the process, we aim to raise awareness – in doing so we hope more people will feel confident enough to act in an emergency, it just may help save someone’s life.
We introduced two of our Trustees, David and Kelly Cairns a couple of weeks ago, David and Kelly will be running a number of awareness sessions over the coming year. The next planned event is: Thursday 18th June, 6-8pm, Hartlepool Life Office, The Boardroom, Greenbank , Stranton, Hartlepool, TS24 7QS
People always tell us they enjoy these sessions and come away feeling more confident about what to do if needed. The sessions are free of charge, under 16’s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
