This holiday couldn’t be coming at a better time. I’m all for keeping myself busy, I work long and sometimes quite testing hours. On one hand, I enjoy being busy, it keeps me distracted from the often loneliness of living alone, but I wish I could sit in the evening and stare at the wall if I wanted to without making a mental to-do list in my head! I’m one of those people who, if I sit with my head for too long, I’d end up rocking in the corner. It’s probably why I read so much, to delve into another world that isn’t my own. So yes, a week in sunny Spain with my friends is much needed right now. No responsibilities, no deadlines, no pressure, just simply sitting, laughing and finding myself again. I feel lately I’m taking a lot of other people’s dilemmas and trauma and carrying them on my own shoulders (that weren’t that strong to begin with)! Yes, I’m glad people know they can rely on me, but wow, where can this girl get a hug when she needs one? Instead, I sit at home on my own with my bottle of wine like the true Bridget Jones, taking on other people’s crises and having to fathom my own at the same time. Let’s hope the heavy sunburn and strong cocktails can help ease some of that tension.
