From cinema trips and book club meetings to dinner catch-ups and a night on the Toon.
I finally got to see all of the lovely Hartlepool Life ladies after our busy lives took precedence this summer. We met at Stone Fired on the marina and enjoyed delicious fresh pizza and pasta.
I think I’ve dreamt of the BBQ pizza at least three nights since we went, and they even offer a takeaway option. There was plenty of gossip, laughter and ‘OMG’ moments as we caught up over everything that’s been happening over the last couple of months – I’ve missed my girls!
With book club this week, we visited the cinema to watch Verity, as this was our chosen book for the month.
The Colleen Hoover book is one of my favourite thrillers and has me gripped each time I’ve read it. But the movie was a flop in my opinion… If you loved the book, don’t bother with the film, as it misses a lot from the book, which I’d argue is very important to the plot.
I love anything Anne Hathaway does, but Dakota Johnson fell flat – I feel like she plays the same character in every movie she’s in. It’s like Bella Swan from Twilight vibes – doesn’t bring much emotion, facial expressions or really anything to the movie. Another book-to-screen adaptation that is a flop.
At the weekend, it was time to celebrate our friend Kate’s birthday in Newcastle. We surprised her with the location, accommodation and itinerary for the day, and we had an absolute blast.
Of course, there was a bottomless brunch involved, and we also bought tickets to Oktoberfest – although I’d say, sadly, don’t waste your time. All it was was a paid venue outdoors, in a big tent with long tables; steins were £14+, they played normal chart music for the majority, and I actually don’t know what the ticket got us in the end – we even left early
But you win some, you lose some, and we always make our own fun!
