DURHAM Folk Festival has announced its fantastic line up for this summer’s event – and reminded people to snap up Early Bird tickets before the deadline this week.
After an incredible decade as Hartlepool Headland Folk Festival, the event is moving to Durham City over the weekend of 18-20 September.
Venues will include the Gala Theatre, Redhills Miners’ Hall, Durham Town Hall and a very special gala show at the historic Durham Cathedral.
The fest’s headliners are the celebrated Irish musician Sharon Shannon, reigning Folk Singer of the Year Ríoghnach
Connolly and her band Honeyfeet and acclaimed Scottish band Shooglenifty.
Also on the bill is winner of the 2025 Folk Album of the Year for Curlew’s Cry, Irish multi-instrumentalist Barry Kerr, guitar picker Sam Carter’s tribute show to folk legend Nic Jones and the fantastic Tom McConville Band.
Also featured are returning Headland Folk Fest faves, local hero Jez Lowe, Irish balladeer Macdara Yeates and Trad folk singer Graham Pitt, among many, many, more great acts.
The gala Homecoming concert at Durham Cathedral on Saturday 19 September has been part funded by North East music legend Sting and will feature Alistair Anderson’s A Lindisfarne Gospel suite, Bold As Brass, a collaboration between the Wilson Family and Easington Colliery Brass Band and headliners the Sharon Shannon Band.
