Golden Flatts’ schoolchildren proudly unveiled their large banners, during a special photocall at Seaton Carew railway stationl.
Phil Eldridge, Friends of Seaton Station, said: “The idea of the art project was conceived by the Friends of Seaton Station (FOSS), a group of volunteers who work closely with Northern Rail to care for and improve the station surroundings. FOSS also strives to make the station a true part of the community and this art project is just one example how FOSS and Northern Rail are working together with primary schools to highlight the possible hazards and getting the children to think creatively about how to stay safe in the railway environment.”
Marie Addison, Northern Rail Regional Community and Sustainability Manager (North East), said: “I am passionate about working with children to raise awareness of safety on and around the railway. The Golden Flatts pupils have done an amazing job and their artwork certainly helps to brighten up the environment at Seaton Carew station”.
Clare Taylor, a teacher at Golden Flatts School, added: “We’re proud of the children who put a lot of effort into the art project and are grateful to Marie for coming to the school to talk to them about the issues around railway safety. It was rewarding for the children to be able to see their work now on display at the station”
