Girls’ teams football coaches Adam Cook and James Pearson raised a total of £1,695 on the 12-day, 289-mile trek of Potter landmarks from Durham Cathedral through Alnwick Castle to Glenfinnan Viaduct in the Scottish Highlands.
They raised the cash for HerGameToo Hartlepool, which helps support females, including their own daughters, in all sports throughout the town.
Adam said: “We were absolutely wrecked at the end and we even got lost in a forest for two days! At some points, we wish we had Harry Potter’s broom to fly us the rest of the way! But we are delighted to raise so much for what is a very good cause and also to raise awareness of it.”
The pair are heavily involved in the female sports scene in town – James’ daughters Emilia and Liv play football for Seaton Vixens and Seaton Sirens respectively, while Adam’s plays for FC Hartlepool Ravens.
HerGameToo Hartlepool Ambassador Jill Simmonds said: “They are absolute legends; they’ve been to hell and back. It is amazing the support they have had; they’ve raised a brilliant amount of money.”
She added: “It will go to grassroots teams in the town, such as how we recently supported the girls’ team from the Sacred Hearts who played at Wembley. We use funds for workshops in schools and education; it is expensive, and this helps us raise awareness.”
