THE CHASE AROUND THE WORLD (ITV1, Thursday, 9pm and ITVX) is a six part global, quiz adventure sees that sees Bradley (Walsh) and The Chasers escape the studio and challenge contestants to the smartest road trip – the more you know, the further you will go!
Six pairs are setting off on an epic chase around some of the world’s most incredible cities – with a £100,000 prize at stake!
A spokesperson for the hit show said: “First up – it’s the eternal city – Rome! The Chasers – The Beast and The Governess – have set a series of quiz questions, puzzles and cryptic clues that the teams must solve in order to navigate their way across the city and find Bradley at the finish line. Their route could take them to some of Rome’s iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps. The teams must answer questions correctly to complete the course but they better be correct as wrong answers have serious consequences, costing them time and taking them off-course.”
The show’s genial host Bradley said: “I would describe it as The Chase… but around the world! It’s out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I’ve been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years! The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did, but then again, I wasn’t chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in.”
He continued: “We visited Piz Gloria, which is right at the top of a mountain. It’s almost 10,000 feet up in the Alps in Switzerland and it was fantastic! It’s where they filmed the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. It was really cool, but not just because it was an iconic filming location. What made it extra special was that we were sitting having some lunch there when, all of a sudden, these people, who had just been up there visiting, started singing this yodeling-type song. And they just sat there singing. It was amazing! They were like some sort of choir. They weren’t there officially or anything, they were just literally there for lunch. But they’d been up, gone to see a bit of sightseeing, and they just decided to sing. It was fantastic. It was really, really good. I loved it. And then, there’s Paris, Barcelona and Lisbon – which is one of my favourite cities – Rome and Athens. They were all great!”
Bradley added: “Yes, I’m there at the end of the day when they hit the finish line, after they’ve been running around the city, finding the clues and solving the puzzles. When they come onto the finish line, they see the other teams. And once they see the other teams, they know which position they are in and if they see all the remaining teams already there, they know they’re the last team, so they’re going to be facing The Chasers. Whoever gets across the city and gets to the finishing line first, are the winners of that city. Whoever is last has to face The Chasers in a question-off to see who remains. If they beat The Chasers, they remain in the game and go on to the next city. If they lose, they are literally out, there and then. If they fail to beat The Chasers, they’re out, there and then.”
Well, it’s certainly been a summer to remember for superstar heartthrob Harry Styles – as if being awarded a Guinness World Record for the longest run of concerts at Wembley Stadium wasn’t enough, the likeable lad has now been awarded a BLUE PETER GOLD BADGE!
The badge – whose previous recipients include Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna and Ed Sheeran – was presented to Harry by Blue Peter presenter Shini Muthukrishnan backstage after his record-breaking 12th Wembley show.
A delighted Harry said: “I grew up watching Blue Peter and I never thought I would get one of these…This might be my proudest achievement.”
And his message to Blue Peter fans? “If you are watching Blue Peter, I wish you luck in all your future endeavours, keep dreaming, and treat people with kindness.”
Well said, Harry!
