The Blyth family – who own Roy Blyth family butchers and farm in Hartlepool – scooped many rosettes across the week with their Charolais cattle. The team won 5th and 6th place with their two yearling heifers, along with 1st and 2nd place with two young bulls.
Family member Jodie Mayes Garside said: “The younger of the two bulls then went forward and won the Junior Male Championship before going on to win Reserve Junior Charolais Champion. We also entered the pairs competition with the older of the two bulls and one of the heifers, where we won 1st place out of 10 pairs of Charolais cattle from different breeders across the country – and we also entered the groups of three competition with the two bulls and a heifer, to which we won 1st place out of six.”
Jodie added: “Neil Blyth, our farmer (Roy and Jean Blyth’s son) works incredibly hard to breed these animals and it’s great to see his hard work paying off! “
It’s been another successful year for the family which has also opened a second butcher’s in Park Road, to run alongside its Catcote Road one.
