Alice House Hospice has been handed the Positive Impact on LGBTQ+ Health Award at this year’s LGBT Alliance Awards.
Greg Hildreth, a Senior Manager at the hospice, accepted the award on behalf of Alice House at a ceremony at the River Tees Watersports Centre in Stockton-on-Tees.
He said: “We’re really pleased with the film and I hope that it helps to promote the right conversations between clinical teams and patients to ensure that the highest quality of care is available.
It was a privilege and a learning experience to work on this project and we are delighted with the award. It should be a shared celebration between us and our collaborators, without whom it would not have been possible.”
Greg added: “Thanks go to Hart Gables, Hartlepool College of Further Education and everyone who took part in the video.
Congratulations to all of the other award winners.”
The idea came from Alice House Co-CEO Nicky Haggan, who was keen to improve educational resources around this subject and promote inclusivity and greater awareness across the hospice sector.
Nicky said: “It is important for hospices to understand the circumstances, needs and wishes of patients so that we can provide the personalised care they need as they approach the end of life. I hope that this will help to increase understanding and contribute to improved practice throughout the healthcare sector, so that services work for everyone.”
