COUNCIL chiefs are inviting offers for an “exciting opportunity” on two plots of Hartlepool land.
The council is seeking a suitable tenant to lease a 3,200 square metre area of land at Brierton Sports Centre, opening the door for the development of new sporting facilities for local residents – and the local authority is also inviting offers to buy a plot of land in the town’s historic Headland area.
The Brierton Sports Centre site, currently laid out as six tarmac tennis courts, is available for sport uses, (excluding football), subject to the necessary agreements and planning consents.
As part of the lease arrangement, the successful operator could also be granted access to changing and toilet facilities within the centre itself.
The council say it represents a “unique opportunity for clubs, sporting organisations and leisure operators to establish or expand their presence at a well-located community sports venue and help enhance Hartlepool’s sporting offer”.
The Headland site – which is located to the rear of residential properties on Croft Terrace and the Duke of Cleveland public house, extending to approximately 178 square metres – is being offered for sale by informal tender.
Due to its proximity to existing homes, the site’s future use is restricted to parking, garden land or storage purposes (subject to any necessary planning permissions).
The council says: “The sale presents an opportunity for prospective purchasers to acquire a parcel of land in one of Hartlepool’s most distinctive and historic locations”.
