Pools are back at Victoria Park on Saturday when they host Hornchurch in a crucial National League fixture (kick-off 3pm).
It follows on from last weekend’s embarrassing FA Cup upset to Marine – the 2-0 defeat was the fourth successive season that Pools have failed to make it past the fourth qualifying round.
McNally led Pools in the loss to the National League North side and said he knew where those fans who stayed until the final whistle were coming from when they delivered an angry reaction.
“I understand,” the defender told Life. “The fans are paying their money to come and support us and that wasn’t good enough.
“But I know how good it can be here and if we can get back to winning ways, the Vic will be a better place for everyone.
“Our objective has to be to get back to winning games and make our fans happy.
“I’d just like to say to the people to stick with us and we’ll do our best to get as many wins as we can for them.”.
McNally says it is up to the players to step up to the plate to get Pools out of trouble.
“I am going to put myself forward and drive the group as best I can, demand more from myself and the team because that really wasn’t good enough [on Saturday],” he told BBC Tees Sport. “There are good characters in the dressing room but we are going to have to be more demanding of each other to get the best out of each other.”
Reiss says he has “really enjoyed” working with new boss Pete Wild and explains that the current period is going to be crucial.
“I know what the gaffer wants and I think these up and coming weeks will be very demanding, which they should be and they have to be to get the best out of us,” he said. “I am going to enjoy it as much as I can and do my best for the gaffer and the team.”
