This year marks a century since St Aidan’s CE Memorial Primary School in Foggy Furze first opened its doors in 1926.
Hartlepool Life photographer Michael Gant was at the Loyalty Road school to capture these lovely images of its Decades’ Day celebrations.
Everyone dressed in clothes from different decades from the last 100 years – from the 1920s right up to the modern day – with staff members even dressed as The Spice Girls.
Headteacher Gillian Hood said: “Our Centenary Celebration Festival has been a truly memorable few days, bringing together our children, families, staff and wider community to celebrate 100 years of St Aidan’s. From the opening of our wonderful new Treehouse Library to dancing through the decades, fantastic musical performances and our very own St Aidan’s Spice Girls, every moment reflected the joy, talent and spirit of our school.”
She added:“As we celebrate our proud history, we also look forward with excitement to the next chapter, continuing to grow together with love for many years to come.”
Each year group was allocated a decade from the last 100 years, dressing up and performing a song from that period.
The school also hosted a coffee afternoon for parents to attend and look at old photos/artifacts of the school from across the years.
