And we helped Ann and Stan Hodge celebrate their big day with a gift of a balloon, a banner, a bottle of Prosecco and a card from everyone at Hartlepool Life.
During the trip, they told us that the secret to 65 years of marriage was down to patience – and Ann said it was because Stan had such a good wife!
Stan and Ann met at St. James’s Youth Club in Rossmere Way, at the ages of 17 and 18, and married in St. Oswald’s Church on May 20th 1961.
They honeymooned for just the day in Seaburn because that was the only time they could arrange to take off work.
Ann worked in the accounts department for Cameron’s Brewery while Stan was a storekeeper for JT Atkinson in Park Road.
They have two sons, Simon who lives in Dublin, and Neil who lives in Nottingham.
