The Dancing Cup, on York Road, says it will soon be embarking on an “exciting chapter”.
Proprietor Johnpaul O’Sullivan-Smith posted on social media: “Something new and exciting is happening at The Dancing Cup.
In order to bring this new, exciting chapter to you successfully, we will be closing our doors for the final time on Sunday, June 21.
We will be opening our new doors after a short closure at a new location – not too far from the current premises, and we will be looking forward to serving you once again, bigger and better.”
He added: “We will be back as quickly as we can and look forward to inviting you into your new café. From JP and all the team at The Dancing Cup.”
Many longstanding customers have taken to social media to share their support.
One person said: “Good luck guys. See you all soon with plenty of sticky toffee pudding,” while another said: “I can’t wait to see your new café. Good luck with the move and exciting times ahead.”
Johnpaul reopened The Dancing Cup in February 2025 after it was closed by the previous owner at the end of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the well-known bar and restaurant, the Black Olive, at Hartlepool Marina, has gone up for auction with a guide price of £255,000. Any successful bidder will be buying the leasehold interest and effectively stepping straight into the role of landlord.
