Delighted mum Gemma said: “He has always had a passion for numbers from an early age, so it’s no surprise that he had a keen eye for a game of darts! Theo started taking the game more seriously about 18 months ago – so it was great when Suzie and Decker Grazier opened St Mary’s Darts Academy.”
She continued: “As part of attending the academy, Theo completed a JDC routine which involves recording a score over eight weeks – known as a season. In seasons one, two and three – which ended a couple of weeks ago – we were informed he’d finished in the top 64 of England and was invited down to Bristol to play in three tournaments. These tournaments gave him the opportunity to qualify for the England B team at the Junior World Cup. Although he didn’t qualify through the tournaments, that same weekend, whilst in Bristol, the JDC informed me that he has performed exceptionally well in the three seasons so has qualified for the JDC World Championships.”
Gemma added: “As parents, we are so proud of how far Theo has come. He is autistic and often struggles socially and emotionally but, once he’s on the oche, he’s like a different child. He takes every spare minute he has to get on his board to practice! We would love for him to have more opportunities to represent our little town of Hartlepool and England, so we are asking if any individuals or businesses could help to fulfill his dream on the big stage.
