South East Asian and African Food will be provided by restaurants while the museum café will provide traditional English pasties and sausage rolls. Music will be provided by Mahfuz Khan, winner of Channel S star competition 2010 singing Bollywood Hindi and Bengali songs and the band Sur Taal will be singing Bollywood Songs. Drum Link, and DJ NE4 DJS will guide the day’s activities.
The Royal Navy Museum and the Link Project have been working closely together to create this exciting event.
The museum’s Operations Manager Simon Walsh said: “The Royal Navy Museum has been developing a relationship with the Link Project over the last couple of years. They are helping us to reach the wider community as well as finding authentic local music artists and suppliers. Working in collaboration means we can create a fantastic event.”
The Link Project also sees this very positively.
“The ship is an important part of the heritage of South East Asian community,” said Zeba Alam. “Working together enables us to create and celebrate our fantastic local diverse communities from all parts of Hartlepool”.
| Outside the museum there will be a Community Village where local community groups will have provided stands to promote their own activities. |
Children’s craft activities will take place in the Museum of Hartlepool, while food, music and other activities will take place in the Royal Navy Museum.
