So says Chris Maxwell, the head of operations at Bromby & Partners, the football consultants who Pools owner Landon Smith has put in charge of the football side at Victoria Park.
Maxwell and Bromby & Partners made a real mess of matters at the Vic when they went for a very left-field appointment in Lee Clark in the summer.
Clark began well with two wins before things unravelled in spectacular fashion with Pools making an alarming slide down the National League, with the Geordie resigning after six defeats in seven games.
While Wild’s last job, at Tranmere, did not end well – Rovers won only once in 10 games – he has been ion regular employment AND has a good track record in the National League.
During a three-season spell at Halifax Town, h guided the Shaymen to sixth, 10th and fourth.
“I’m delighted Pete has joined,” said Maxwell. “I firmly believe he possesses all the qualities to galvanise this group and lead us forward.
“We have conducted a thorough and lengthy process, and Pete emerged as a clear candidate for the role.
“He brings a wealth of experience, attention to detail and a relentless drive to improve, making him the right fit for Hartlepool United both short and long-term.
“We have a good group of players in the building, and his job will be to bring the best out of them and take them to where we know they can get to.”
Wild will have Dave Conlon alongside him after he took the role of assistant head coach.
Conlon spent two decades at Stockport County and was part of the backroom team of Dave Challinor, who led the Hatters through the divisions to League One promotion contenders.
“We’ve worked hard to bring in the right players, both for now and for the future, and Pete is the head coach to lead the team and get the very best out of the squad we have.
“I’m excited to work with Pete and Dave,” said Maxwell.
“I look forward to what we can achieve together.”
On joining Pools, new boss Wild said: “I’m really pleased and excited to be here and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
The ex-Tranmere, Fleetwood, Barrow and Halifax chief will take charge of his first match on Saturday, when Pools host Tamworth at Victoria Park.
Pools start Saturday in 22nd position just two places and two points behind Tamworth.
