This year, an incredible team of 35 runners – including four members of Alice House Hospice staff – will take on the iconic Great North Run challenge. All runners will proudly wear Alice House Hospice vests, featuring the Boots Opticians logo, as they make their way from Newcastle to South Shields.
The continued support from Boots Opticians is particularly meaningful to In Memory Fundraiser Nicola Winwood, who said: “We are incredibly grateful to Boots Opticians Hartlepool for their continued support of Alice House Hospice and our Great North Run team. Their generosity and commitment since 2018 means so much to us and helps make a real difference to the lives of local people and families who rely on the hospice. It’s fantastic to see their logo proudly displayed on our runners’ vests, and we can’t thank the team enough for standing alongside us once again.”
Members of the Boots Opticians Hartlepool team recently gathered to celebrate the sponsorship and see the vests that the runners will proudly wear on the big day.
A spokesperson said: “Alice House Hospice would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone at Boots Opticians Hartlepool for their continued generosity and for helping the Hospice’s runners to take on this year’s Great North Run.”
The hospice provides care and support to patients and families affected by life-limiting illness, or the death of a loved one in Hartlepool, Tees Valley and East Durham.
It costs £3.7m to fund these services for one year – the hospice receives 34% of this in Government funding, leaving a shortfall of over £6,700 to be raised every single day.
