The Headland Carnival Raft Race delighted hundreds of onlookers as the First Boys Brigade Old Boys – looking resplendent in their Santa outfits – again powered home first.
They were closely followed by Team Fish, The Sailors and, finally, the brave Pirates of the Headland who still managed to struggle to shore despite having to battle the small disadvantage of their raft collapsing!
Up-and-coming Hartlepool teenage rock band Haywire said: “Another epic day! Thanks for having us Hartlepool Carnival as part of the Headland Raft Race, performing in the Town Square this afternoon. We were then straight over to The Blacksmiths Arms for their outdoor live music event on the big stage, raising money for Alice House Hospice on behalf of Team Holbrook. More in the pot towards Phil’s £100k target! Brilliant!”
