This year marks a century since St Aidan’s CE Memorial Primary School, in Foggy Furze first opened its doors.
The Loyalty Road school has now been recognised as “Strong” after Ofsted inspectors visited in June.
Headteacher Gillian Hood said: “We are absolutely delighted with this report, which celebrates the commitment, care and ambition of our whole school community. We are especially proud that Attendance and Behaviour has been recognised as ‘Strong’ – reflecting the kindness, respect and positive relationships that our children demonstrate every day.”
She added: “St Aidan’s is a very special place, and our vision of Growing Together with Love is at the heart of everything we do.
This achievement belongs to our staff, governors, families and, above all, our wonderful children, who make our school such a joyful place to learn and grow.”
The Ofsted report stated that safeguarding standards were being met and leaders had established an open culture in which safeguarding was everyone’s responsibility and concerns were actively identified, acted upon and managed. As a result, pupils are made safer and feel safe.
Earlier this month, Hartlepool Life featured the school’s “Decades Day” celebrations, where everyone dressed in clothes from different decades from the last 100 years, from the 1920s right up to the modern day, with even staff members dressed as The Spice Girls.
