Seaton Carew has once again been granted a Seaside Award from environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
The award is only given to English beaches which are clean, safe and meet the highest environmental standards.
Allison Ogden-Newton, Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, said: “England is fortunate to boast some of the world’s finest beaches – and it’s encouraging to see this reflected in the award to Seaton Carew’s main beach, signalling its high standards to all who visit or live nearby. Everybody involved in this achievement should feel proud of their ongoing work to care for and enhance this important local blue space.”
Gemma Ptak, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Director of Housing, Growth and Communities, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Seaton Carew has once again secured this prestigious Seaside Award. It reflects the continued dedication of our staff and volunteers who work so hard all year round to keep the beach in excellent condition, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they do.”
She added: “Seaton Carew is a real gem on our coastline, with its beautiful beach, family-friendly leisure attractions, amusements, shops and fantastic places to eat, it offers a great day out for people of all ages.”
