Hits Radio presenter Gemma Atkinson looks visibly nervous on a station video as she listens to the phone ring five times on “Make Me a Winner” before 48-year-old Jane Oliver finally answers.
She said: ““Hello – is someone there? Thank goodness you’ve answered the phone! My name’s Gemma Atkinson – do you know why I’m ringing you! You’ve won £650,000!”
A clearly shocked Jane answered: “Really! It’s unbelievable. I think I’m going to pass out!”
Jane, who works for a multi-academy trust, told Gemma she had almost not answered the call.
She said: “I’ve just been on my motorbike. It was coming through the helmet, and I took
it off. I might be getting another one now! I’m in shock! I’ve been entering it for months. I almost didn’t answer – then I thought – what if it’s that competition? This is going to be amazing!”
Jane and her 52-year-old sales manager husband Steven are now planning to enjoy their winnings by buying a new home, car and start travelling.
Gemma also watched as the couple later checked their bank balance to make sure the money had come through.
She said: “Is it in? It should be in now” to which Jane replied: “I’m shaking so much to see it. Yes, it’s in! I honestly didn’t think it was real. I was freaking out. This is nuts. Thank you so much guys.”
