Hundreds congregated in Scarborough Street to enjoy the area’s first pedestrianised street party, which ran from 12pm to 9pm – with indoor parties following. The area was closed to traffic as residents enjoyed DJs and “live” music with the free-entry event linking up with Church Square’s usual busy Saturday afternoon activities.
Meanwhile, Hart was also busy as hundreds gathered to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its much-loved village hall.
Visitors received a warm welcome as they arrived at the village fayre, with free cakes, burgers and a cuppa available to everyone who attended.
The younger visitors were certainly not forgotten, with a couple of bouncy castles proving hugely popular throughout the day. Children also enjoyed traditional attractions -including the ever-popular hook-a-duck stall.
A special moment came when Hart Village Hall’s Honorary President, Nina Barker, had the honour of cutting the celebratory cake, aided by Gary Simmons and Janet Ord.
The raffle stall, meanwhile, attracted plenty of interest, with Shona Henlen helping to keep things running smoothly.
Families also enjoyed plenty of fun at a special outdoor event organised by the Central Residents’ Group. The event, outside the Phoenix Centre, also featured a visit from Cleveland Fire Brigade which proved particularly popular.
