HARTLEPOOL RNLI volunteer Jimmy Slaughter visited Seaton Carew’s Hornby Park to deliver sea safety advice to youngsters who attend the various sports events at the venue.
Jimmy said: ‘We covered a variety of issues but, one of the most important things, was to let the youngsters know how to call the Coastguard and how to float to live. I thoroughly enjoyed the event which was well attended and I’m sure the children and parents did as well.’
Hornby Park trustee Paul Frankland, who attended the event, said: “Jimmy approached us with the sea safety awareness event, so we thought it would be an amazing opportunity for the junior members and parents to come along and learn about being safe on the beach and in the water.’
