Children from Northern Lights Learning Trust’s Year 5, at primary and Year 7 at the secondary met up with their teachers at Venerable Bede CE Academy in Sunderland to make pizzas from scratch.
Youngsters enjoying the fun included school children from Grange, Hart, St Helen’s and St Peter’s Elwick.
“They had a wonderful time getting creative as they designed and made their own tasty treat,” said Samantha Lockerbie, a teacher at Benedict Biscop and one of the organisers for the bake-off. “From preparing and shaping the dough to selecting their favourite toppings and flavours, everyone showed great enthusiasm and imagination throughout the day.”
Pizza designs included an octopus, a dog and a butterfly. Each pupil carefully chose their own ingredients, creating unique and delicious pizzas that reflected their personalities and ideas.
“The event provided a brilliant opportunity for children from different schools across the trust to collaborate, make new friends and work together in a fun and engaging environment,” added Samantha.
Once all the pizzas had been baked, it was time for judging. After some tough decisions, the overall winner was Nife, a pupil at St Aidan’s CE Academy, Darlington.
