Lyndsay Turner, of The Silent Steppers, attended the King’s Garden Party in recognition of her work in mental health and wellbeing across Hartlepool.
She said it was an incredible honour to represent the work being done to support mental health awareness and wellbeing locally.
Lyndsay said: “Attending Buckingham Palace was a truly surreal experience, and seeing Prince William, Kate, Zara, Sophie and Edward was definitely the icing on the cake. The palace grounds were absolutely beautiful, and I took time to walk around, enjoy the royal bands and speak with other people from across the country who are also doing amazing work within their communities.”
She went on: “This recognition means so much because the work comes from a genuine passion for helping people. Watching individuals rebuild confidence, improve their mental health and make positive life changes is incredibly inspiring.”
Lyndsay founded The Silent Steppers in 2024, and it now includes around 300 active members, while the online community has now grown to almost 18,000 followers.
Lyndsay added: “Silent Steppers started as a small wellbeing and lifestyle initiative, but it has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. It has become a real lifeline for many people. What makes Silent Steppers special is the friendships, support and sense of belonging that people gain from attending. Creating Silent Steppers has honestly restored my faith in humanity.”
