Obviously, I dragged a group of friends along with me too. Because what’s better than buying books? Buying books with people who understand that your TBR pile is already completely out of control.
The pop-up was packed with dozens of indie-published books, with plenty of romance — my preferred genre, naturally.
I also had a very delicious banoffee hot chocolate while I was there. I’m still thinking about it.
The evening also included a reading and meet-and-greet with author Fariha Rahman, who writes billionaire romance, including the wonderfully intriguing world of morally dark men. Count me in.
Fariha was absolutely lovely — so warm, down-to-earth, and more than happy to chat with us and answer all our questions. It was also incredibly sweet to see her family there supporting her… although I think Fariha may have been slightly less enthusiastic when it came to reading an excerpt from her book in front of them! I can’t say I blame her.
We had such a laugh throughout the evening, and it was lovely to see how genuinely passionate Fariha is about her books and her readers. She even followed us back on social media afterwards, which obviously means we are now practically best friends.
I came home with a signed copy of her book, which I’m now very excited to get stuck into — and, naturally, the rest of the series has already found its way onto my ever-growing TBR.
Because apparently I have learned absolutely nothing about shelf control.
All in all, it was the perfect kind of night: good friends, books, laughter, games, delicious drinks and a little bit of swooning over fictional men.
Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for much more.
