The nights are getting darker, the weather has taken a turn for the worse, and I’m about two cold, windy evenings away from finally giving in and putting the heating on!
As much as I love this time of year, there’s no denying that the countdown to Christmas sends everyone’s calendars into overdrive.
Between Halloween parties, festive brunches, catch-ups with friends and all the little events that pop up, it feels like you need a diary just to keep track of your social life!
For me, it’s all about book clubs, plans with different friendship groups and trying to squeeze in some much-needed time to do absolutely nothing. I’ve learnt the hard way that you simply cannot say yes to everything without running yourself into the ground.
I’ve become quite accustomed to my own company and having that time to recharge, so I’m learning that it’s perfectly okay to protect a little bit of that peace, even when there are a million exciting things going on. Sometimes, a cosy night in with a good book beats rushing from one plan to the next!
That said, I’m very much looking forward to all the usual autumn and winter antics.
And while we’re on the subject of Christmas, I have an important question: when is it officially acceptable to put the Christmas tree up?
I’m not saying mine is ready to make an appearance just yet, but I’m certainly not ruling anything out. Asking for a friend, obviously!
Whatever your plans, remember to make a little time for yourself, too. The run-up to Christmas can be magical, but you don’t have to do absolutely everything to enjoy it.
So, what have you got planned this winter, Hartlepool?
Are you already embracing the festive spirit, or is it still too early for Christmas? I’d love to hear what you’re getting up to!
