Former Pools’ stars Gary Liddle and Adam Boyd, with more to be announced, will be taking part in the game – which takes place at 12.30pm on Sunday, 23 August – in aid of Dementia UK.
The game is the fifth of its kind with the previous four events raising more than £5000 for the charity.
Organiser Ben Painter said: “I started a website in lockdown to write about football but I wanted to do something more with it. Having lost two grandparents to dementia, it is a charity close to my heart, so I combined the two things and put together a charity football match.”
He added: “The last five years were a great success with a lot of money raised for Dementia UK, but, this year, we aim to do more than that. It is great to get some former professionals involved this year and I would like to thank them for taking their time to help make this event even more special. It would be great to get as many people down to Grayfields as possible on the day to raise as much money as possible for a good cause.”
The match will see Hartlepool Premier League Sunday League side St. Francis 7VEN FC play a charity team, The Beautiful Game FC. Donations are welcome and all proceeds will be donated to the charity. Ben said: “Everyone is welcome to the Pavilion Bar, on site at Grayfields, to take part in raffles, football cards and other fundraising activities.”
