Alice House Hospice Co-CEO, Nicky Haggan is inviting hospice supporters to join her on a sponsored walk along the historic Cinder Track from Scarborough to Whitby.
Nicky hopes the popular 21.7-mile walk between the two North Yorkshire coastal resorts on Sunday, October 4 will offer something new and different for Alice House supporters.
She said: “It’s important to me to support the hospice outside of my day job, as well as pushing myself with events beyond my comfort zone, to raise as much as I can for our fantastic services and hopefully encourage others to join in. The hospice is more than just a place of work and staff regularly unite to support our fundraising, which is vital to sustaining the care we provide.”
Nicky went on: “I want to set the best example I can to friends and colleagues and we have already had staff members from different areas of the hospice signing up to take part in this exciting new event. I would urge anyone who feels up to the challenge to get their boots on and join us in October.”
She added: “The event is part of our commitment to promoting wellbeing and fitness – but most importantly, we’ll be raising lots of money to support our patients and their families.”
Nicky previously pledged to take part in a challenge event every year to raise funds and awareness for the hospice’s work – previous undertakings include a sponsored fire walk and sky-dive.
Nicky and the hospice’s fundraising team are hoping to raise more than £7,000 from the event and registration is open now.
