Last year, Lyndsay Hogg received one of the 90 “Little Free Libraries” that book publishers Penguin was gifting in celebration of its 90th anniversary.
Now, Lyndsay and her library, “The Book Hogg”, have received the Little Free Library’s “Award for Outstanding Achievement” – the only one in Britain and just six worldwide.
She said: “We are not in the most affluent town, so incentives like this make such a difference to morale. I am a single mum of two boys who just wants to show them that small acts of kindness are all it takes sometimes to genuinely make a difference.”
Since it started last October, the library has become a sensation, inspiring authors to drop off signed copies of their
books and prompting the council to commit to building 11 more book-sharing boxes – one in every ward across the town.
At its launch, Lyndsay welcomed Hartlepool author R.T. Taylor who donated two signed copies of his latest book.
Lyndsay is well known throughout the town as the award winning managing director of Hartlepool company Hogg Global Logistics.
