Lorna Robinson, 36, is hoping to raise the funds to spend four weeks in Puebla undergoing HSCT (haematopoietic stem cell transplant) as she does not meet the NHS criteria.
The mum-of-two has thanked the people of Hartlepool for already donating more than £13,000 for the vital treatment, which could halt the progression of her MS.
Lorna said: “We are chipping away at the total and, honestly, I am shocked by how kind people have been. We’re well over £12,000 now, which is absolutely wild. Thank you so much for keeping this going and believing in me when things feel overwhelming. Every donation, share or message genuinely helps more than you know.”
Lorna said she was devastated when she was diagnosed with the condition at just 17-years-old, thinking: “This is it, my life is over.”
She managed to keep her symptoms stable for many years with medication, but things changed in 2019 when she suffered a major relapse and, since the birth of her second child, two-year-old Samuel, her mobility has declined further.
Lorna, who is married to husband Liam and also has a 13-year-old daughter, Harper, says that, although it will be hard to be away from her family while undergoing the treatment, she feels she doesn’t have a choice.
“At the moment, my condition is actively on the decline, so I have to try,” she said. “I am only 36. I have a lot of years left to live, and I want to be as active as possible for my family.”
