The best selling author’s previous NETFLIX offerings include “Fool Me Once,”, “Missing You”, “Run Away” and “Safe” and the latest – I WILL FIND YOU – is streaming now.
It stars Sam Worthington, best known for such blockbuster movie roles as “Avatar” and “Terminator Salvation”, as David Burroughs – a grieving father, wrongly imprisoned for the brutal murder of his toddler son who has all but given up on life. Then, one day, he receives a surprise prisoner who gives him a glimmer of hope – his son may still be alive!
“This story starts in a very dark place,” Coben told Netflix’s online magazine Tudum. “I wanted to figure out a way to tell a story that also had light, also had hope, and also had optimism.”
He added: “This is a dream cast all the way through. I can’t believe how lucky we are. Sam just brings that gravitas and the controlled emotion that you want in David Burroughs. The idea was to start there and let Sam play someone who can now possibly get full redemption and not just prove his innocence — which is only a small part for him — but [also] find and be with his son again.”
Worthington said: “Harlan calls his genre ‘the novel of immersion.’ What he’s trying to get at is that the reader’s so engrossed that they can’t put the book down, and it’s like taking a vacation. They don’t want to get out of their hotel room. They just want to keep going with these characters and see where that journey takes them.”
A strong supporting cast includes Britt Lower, who received an Emmy for her role as Helly R. in the oddball, science fiction drama “Severance”, Milo Ventimiglia, Jonathan Tucker, Madeleine Stowe, Logan Browning, Chi McBride and “Shawshank Redemption” star Clancy Brown.
THRILLER fans will also be pleased to know that TV superstar Suranne Jones will soon be returning in the third season of the hit drama VIGIL (BBC1).
Jones again stars as DCI Amy Silva who – along with partner DI Kirsten Longacre (“Game of Thrones” Rose Leslie) – find themselves taking on a murder case which takes them to a remote Arctic research station.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.”
The six-part series will be screened later this year on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer.
