ONE of rock’s most famous producers is heading back to his native North East as part of a major spoken word tour.
TREVOR HORN, the man behind the iconic sounds of Seal, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, and many more, will bring his “Adventures in Modern Recording” to Gala Durham on Saturday, 31 October.
Following the publication of his best-selling memoir, “Adventures in Modern Recording: From ABC to ZTT”, Horn will be talking about his exploits as a bona fide legend of pop.
The date will be seen as a homecoming show for Trevor, having been born in Hetton-le-Hole, and grown up in Durham City.
Described as “the man who invented the 80s”, Horn was also responsible for the sound of artists such as Dollar, Malcolm McLaren, t.A.T.u., Hans Zimmer, Marc Almond, Tori Amos and much more.
After achieving a number one hit with his band, The Buggles, with “Video Killed the Radio Star”, Trevor became a member of Yes before becoming the most important hit-maker of the 1980s. Awards soon followed with four BRITs, a 1995 Grammy for Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose”, and more.
He said: “I had a brilliant time on my recent tour, and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the stories of my career. When I was asked if I’d return next year with more stories, I didn’t need to think twice.”
Lizzie Glazier, Artistic Director of Gala Durham, said: “We are so pleased to be welcoming the incredible Trevor Horn back to his home in the North East, and this production will be another must-see at Gala Durham. Listen along as Trevor takes audiences on a guided tour through his legendary career. From Robbie Williams to Pet Shop boys, you will hear a play-by-play of this incredible journey.”
Tickets for the event cost £30 and are available from www.galadurham.co.uk.
