The Triage group will be climbing the Lake District’s Helvellyn – the third highest mountain in England, standing at 950 metres.
Triage’s Performance Manager, Gemma Marriott explained: “We’re incredibly fortunate at Triage to be given the opportunity to take up to two fully paid working days each year to give back to the communities where we live and work. I wanted to take on a charity hike for Alice House Hospice after my grandad received end-of-life care from the amazing team. The care, compassion and support was incredible; several colleagues have also come into contact with Alice House Hospice and wanted to give back.”
She added: “We’re already anticipating the sore legs, stiff muscles and the struggle of sitting down the next day!”
The challenge takes place on Friday, 25 September.
Gemma and colleagues, who have set themselves a fundraising target of £1,000, visited Alice House to learn more about how their support makes a difference.
Greg Hildreth, a hospice Senior Manager, said: “The team from Triage have shown such warmth and kindness towards the work of the hospice and we thank them and wish them the absolute best of luck – all of the money raised will be used to provide specialist care and support to local patients and families.”
He added: “On a more personal note – it has been lovely to meet with Gemma and colleagues, to see their enthusiasm and hear about their personal motivations for taking part. Having seen their dedication first-hand, I am certain that they will do a brilliant job of completing the challenge and hitting their target.”
